The story of Paraiso Mariposa (Butterfly Paradise) began with this house about 30 years ago. Olaf, a sea captain on a Norwegian oil tanker by profession, came here and was so taken by the beauty of the mountains in Perez Zeledon that he bought a large piece of land and built this house. We restored it so that you can still see many details of the original house.
To have more space for us and our guests, the former guest house was extended and renovated from the ground up. The low old roof was replaced by a high roof construction in the shape of a butterfly, which invites a lot of light and fresh air inside.
The whole arrangement is hidden behind tropical trees and shrubs and offers a fantastic view of the valley of the river El General with the provincial capital San Isidro del General.
